WAY TO GO STEVE BRAY - 4.18 CAREER BEST AT ORANGEBURG DRAGSTRIP. THIS WAS DURING TEST SESSION FRIDAY NIGHT. STEVE SAID "ONLY FORD"
Sat. July 31, 2010 GATES OPEN AT 1 PM RACING TO START AT 2 PM.
Quick 8 Outlaws head to Orangeburg Drag Strip this Saturday the 31st
(07-28-2010) ORANGEBURG, SC – The Quick 8 Outlaws will be making their only appearance this season at “Gator Alley” this weekend. The Outlaws have become one of the premier clubs on the east coast because of the diverse group of power plants and great side by side races. The race fans will see several different kinds of Doorslammers, anything from a ‘40 Ford to new GTO. Not only that there will be a Blown, Nitrous Injected, Turbo Charged, Pro Charger and just about anything else. There is one equalizer, for the 2010 season each competitor must have a Powerglide Transmission.
Leading the charge into Orangeburg is points’ leader Robbie Matthews. One of the newest members this year is Shay Loveday. Shay is right on Robbie’s heels only five points behind him. The reigning Quick 8 Outlaws Champion Troy Jordan is only five back of Shay. The President of the Quick 8 Outlaws Ric Fleck, is right in the mix only five behind of Troy. That’s right, the top four in points are only separated by ten points. The rest of the top ten in points are, Steve Bray, Chris Wooten, Ervin Rose, Dennis Jordan, Shawn Jenkins, Bill DeSoto and Kenny Kneece.
Also, look for the quickest car in the club so far this year, Danny Blankenship. Danny was the first to receive the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Motor Oil three second jacket. Danny posted a 3.98 at Darlington Dragway but he isn’t satisfied yet. Dwayne “the Hogfarmer” Silance and his Big Red Machine will also be there. Other drivers expected to be there are, Carol Long, Craig Miller, Sambo Price, Tylor Miller and many others.
The gates open at 1:00 with the first round of qualifying at 3:00, and second round will be at 5:00 with eliminations starting at 7:00. General admission is $15.00 with kids 12 and under free. Orangeburg Drag Strip will also be open Friday evening for test and tune. Car and driver are $25.00 and general admission is $10.00 with kids 12 and under free.

THIS IS AN EMAIL WE HAVE RECIEVED FROM ONE OF THE RACERS:
Hi Faye, I just wanted to send you and the crew of Orangeburg Dragway a note of THANKS for the hospitality we VW folks received on Saturday. I have drag raced for 21 yrs, from NHRA, IHRA, and many other venues, and have NEVER experienced the welcome, courteousness, and overall hospitality you folks provided Saturday. Needless to say, I was very impressed. From the lady at the gate, to the guys parking us, to the tech man, to the starter and track crew. Everyone I encountered was polite, easy to deal with, and did everything they could to insure that we had a great time and race. The facility was clean and well laid out. The track prep was awesome. I was also impressed with the safety crew and the attention to safety with the concrete walls.
Hosting a first time event with a group of cars and classes you are not familiar with can be a challenge. Your willingness to allow "Dyno Don" to announce and Scott Pocaro to help organize the classes was commendable. I don't know of many tracks that would be that accommodating. I think you will agree it certainly helped the program.
Please relay my sentiment to the owner and give your crew a pat on the back. I cannot speak for Scott (Sain), but I think VW Drag Night has found a home. We are already looking forward to coming back.
Thanks again,
Corbitt and Colby Marshburn
